“Live in Service Glad and Free”

Jaffna Central College Old Boys’ Association, Canada (JCC OBA, Canada) was officially formed on October 10, 1992 and we are celebrating our Silver Jubilee this year 2017. Since its inception JCC OBA Canada has been providing financial assistance to various projects with the prime focus to support the School and its needy students.

Assistance to the School  and  Needy Students  (Total of  $47,632.00)

  • Students In Need (SIN) Project & Other assistance to school   $22,452.00

  • Computer Project – supplied 40 computers with the help of  Homes of  Hope Life Enrichment Centre $13,800.00

  • Assistance to Sports and Extracurricular activities $4,320.00

  • Jaffna Central Soccer player was played in Iran for Sri Lankan National team(under 18)  $1,100.00

  • Edu Care Trust $1,260.00  in 2017

  • Computer Project for Low School – supplied 15 computers in 2017   $4,700.00

  • Energetic foods for Under 19 Cricket Team in 2018

 

Scholarship Schemes  (Total of  $13,600.00)

  • Joint Scholarship - Canada, UK, Sydney & Colombo OBA’s held in Trust- $ 6,600.00

  • University of Jaffna - Entrance Bursary held in Trust - $7,000.00

 

Bi-Centennial Scholarship Fund Canada  - 2016 (Total of  $10,000.00)

  • Allocated $10,000.00 from the proceeds of Bi-Centennial Celebrations held in September 2016.

 

Humanitarian Assistance to Service Organizations  (Total of  $14,000.00)

A Total of has been donated to the following organizations to-date.

  • Canadian Red Cross

  • St.Peter’s Church Jaffna ,Building Fund

  • Ramakrishna Missions Orphanage, Batticaloa,

  • Maruthanamadam Achchramam. Orphanage, Jaffna

  • Tsunami Relief and Rehabilitation Livelihood Project, Methodist Church, Point-Pedro.

  • Manithaneyam Trust-(2011)-Resettlement of Internally Displaced Children

  • Tree planting project-Vanni District

  • Manithaneyam Trust (2016) Assistance to construct a conventional well in Moongilaru a small village Mullaitivu District. There are 10 families living without water facilities. (Total cost $2,800  50% shared by VOGA, Canada)

 

Joint Annual Walk-A-Thon with VOGA Canada –Fundraiser (Total of  $61,742.00)

  • 2000 - 2015 - In aid of the Toronto Hospital for Sick Children Foundation and raised a cumulative total donations amounting to $51,314.00

  • Since 2016 - Heart and Stroke Foundation is our charity of choice and we have raised a total of $10, 428.00 in donations to-date.
